Most of the Jews in Israel didn’t believe Jeremiah’s prophecy of 70 years of Babylonian Exile since no world power up to that time had ever released its foreign slaves to return to their own country. Daniel did heed the prophecy and prayed to God in response to the time of its fulfillment in Dan. 9.2.
In response to this prayer Daniel was given another prophecy of the Messiah’s appearance, rejection, and the city’s and temple’s destruction in 9.24-27. All of this was fulfilled with Jesus being “cut off” in 30 C.E. with the city and temple falling in 70 C.E.
