From the Sword of The Spirit to Praying in The Spirit

Ephesians 6.17-8 list the armor panoply that Christians are to put on every day. The last two items feature an offensive weapon and communications with our Commanders. In both cases The Spirit is referenced. First, as giving the authoritative word which Christians can wield to affect righteous change. Praying “in the Spirit” is crucified prayer where we put off our fleshly desires to align ourselves with God’s person and will. Bible memorization does a number of things as a result of disciplining ourselves to know God’s word better. One of those things is to help us pray with more knowledge of God’s purposes. Sometimes we don’t know all of God’s purposes for us or others. It is at that point The Spirit steps in and helps us with inexpressible words to our Father.
