This post is too long and broken up by too many distracting appeals. Nevertheless, it identifies an unwitting tendency of humans to revolve the world around themselves. One way this is done is to fall into traditionalism. The devil was right when he tempted Eve: “You will be like God, knowing good and evil.” The problem was rebellion against the truth and against the Person of the One True God. Humans now challenge God by going their own way unstead of obeying Jesus to die to themselves. The issue of translation of leprosy should revolve more around the concept of what the text is conveying conceptually instead of the choice of words for translating. The bible communicates more through concepts than actual word choice. The issue speaks of defilement in several ways rather than identifying a certain disease. For sure it was a certain disease that was identifiable to those in that culture, but, it is not necessary for later readers to know exactly what the diease was.
