Why are Christians Ready to Die for Jesus?

In this post I deviate a bit from Dr. Kruger’sthought. He asks why the original disciples of Jesus were so convinced of His resurrection that they followed Him to their own deaths in ministry. It’s a powerful argument. Another argument is Jesus’ ongoing life in the believer is why many later Christians would live for Him, and, on occasion, suffered martyrdom. Jesus, and His Spirit (Holy Spirit), requires that His people die to themselves, take up their cross, and live for Him. He tells us that no temptation exists that he cannot give us grace to endure it. Here is a quote from Justin Martyr: “But since we do not place our hopes on the present [order], we are not troubled by being put to death, since we will have to die somehow in any case.”
